On May 24-26, NUR International Media Art Festival took place in Kazan for the fourth time. Starting in 2021, the festival brings together more than 250 media artists, musicians and performers from 31 countries. They create art objects, media installations and audiovisual performances. The events of the festival cover over 10 locations throughout Kazan in 2024. The Artplay media Digital Art Center has became one of the venues of the festival again.

On May 24, 25 and 26, from 15:00 to 23:00 at Artplay media, as part of the festival program, the works of 2 festival participants were presented to the audience:

MILKORVA -  a French artist, Master of Modern Art at the Sorbonne Nicolas Michel (also known as MILKORVA) specializes in creating generative and immersive installations. His artistic approach focuses on unlocking the potential of new technologies — the artist explores their ability to free art from its frozen nature.

At the festival, Nicolas Michel presented the work of Wuthering Summits. This work of art is an ode to mountain landscapes. Based on many photographs of snow-covered Alpine landscapes, artificial intelligence creates an alternative reality that emphasizes the inexpressible aura of the mountains. Shadows and light slowly outline the sharp contours of the rocky peaks, and field recordings of wind breathing from Paul Kusnirek and the original musical accompaniment by Valentin Fayo help to deeply feel the chilling force.

Nadya Kimelyar X Yusuf Bikchantaev - this tandem grew up in the multimedia studio Formate. Its creative director and media artist Nadia Kimelyar works with projection and generative graphics, striving to create a unique visual experience and connect the digital environment with the physical space. In turn, Yusuf Bikchantaev is a sound designer of the studio and a theater composer.

The Presence installation was presented to the audience at the festival. The path from an ancient to a modern man took millennia. Over the years of intellectual development, people have made incredible discoveries and overcome many barriers. But there is still something we have in common with antiquity — and this is a primal fear of the unknown. The installation will allow you to look into his eyes and feel his "presence" through the digital reality portal.
