The multimedia exhibition “King of Surrealism” is dedicated to the work of the artist, whose main task was to go beyond reality, to try to reflect dreams, fantasies, thoughts from the hidden corners of the subconscious.

The French prefix "sur-" means "over-", that is, more than reality. The development of surrealism was greatly influenced by the very popular psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud at the time, especially his analysis of dreams. According to Freud, a dream is the work of the subconscious, which breaks free when the conscious mind is at rest. Salvador Dali would take up his work immediately upon awakening, when the brain was not yet completely free from the images of the subconscious. Sometimes he even woke up in the middle of the night in order to sketch what he saw in a dream. This method corresponds to one of the techniques of psychoanalysis - recording dreams right after awakening. Dali is one of the most famous surrealist painters, who has confirmed with his art the phrase he once uttered: "Surrealism is me!". Speaking of surrealist painting, one cannot help but think of Dali's paintings.

Walking around the metaphysical landscapes presented at the exhibition "King of Surrealism", you will get into the world of unbelievable imagination of the surrealist genius.

The ”King of Surrealism” exhibition is:

  1. Paradoxes in the combination of shapes, sizes and colors. "Liquid" objects, animals with elongated limbs, people without faces -as if the heroes of the paintings fell out of a dream.
  2. Allusions and visual deception. An object may not be what it seems at first glance.
  3. Phantasmagoria of plots. At first glance, the work looks like a visual delusion, but in fact each subject has an explanation based on the artist's inner fears and desires.
  4. Freedom and irrationality, the epatage, the desire to challenge society, morality, religion, traditional art.

The immersive exhibition "King of Surrealism" is a journey into the subconscious of the artist, whose work to this day remains an endless mystery.
